Making Alphabet Pretzels

Dec 27, 2012

There’s nothing more motivating than making and eating alphabet pretzels. What a meaningful reason to read! It is a fun activity to do at home with your child. They can also bring one pretzel to class and tell us about how they made it. Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:
1 package dry yeast
½ cup warm water
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Extra salt

Recipe:
First: Mix dry yeast and water together in a large bowl.

Then: Add the sugar and salt.

Next: Beat in the flour.

Then: Knead the dough on a flour board or counter.

Next: Give your child a small ball of dough. Have them roll it into a rope and then make a letter.

Then: Place the pretzel letters on a greased baking sheet. Brush surface with water. Sprinkle with extra salt.

Last: Bake the pretzels for 12-15 minutes at 218 C degrees.

Finally: Enjoy!
